Who we are

Thank you for visiting Artifacts of Valor.

This collection is something I’ve built to honor the men and women who fought, bled, and sacrificed for the United States of America. Behind every item is a real person, a real story, and a moment in history that deserves to be remembered. What started as a personal interest has grown into something much more meaningful to me. It’s become a way to preserve these pieces of history and share the stories that come with them.

My interest in history started at a young age. I spent a lot of time visiting Civil War battlefields with my dad, which first sparked my interest in the past. But what truly shaped this passion was a close relationship with a family member, Douglas Hopkins, who served in K Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines, 2nd Marine Division during World War II. He fought in some of the most brutal battles of the Pacific, including Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian, and Okinawa. He was wounded twice and experienced the realities of close combat firsthand. As a kid, I was captivated by his stories. Hearing what he went through made history feel real, and it set me on the path that eventually led to this collection.

A lot of the artifacts you’ll see here are more than just objects. They were there. They were carried, worn, or used in moments that shaped history. Some represent courage and sacrifice. Others reflect the harder realities of war like loss, violence, and division. I believe it’s important to tell the full story. Whether it’s the fight against the Nazi regime in World War II or the deeply personal conflict of the American Civil War, history isn’t simple. But it matters, and it deserves to be remembered honestly.

Over the years, I’ve also had the opportunity to record interviews with veterans, mostly from the World War II generation. Every one of those men has since passed away, which makes those conversations even more meaningful. Being able to preserve and share their words is something I don’t take lightly.

This collection is always growing. If you have a piece of militaria with strong history or provenance and would want it preserved and shared, I’d love to hear from you through the contact page.

At the end of the day, this is all about remembering those who came before us and making sure their stories aren’t lost.
